VEI employs 10-15 professionals, including civil engineers, geologists, surveyors, and technical support personnel. The size of our firm allows us the flexibility to work closely with our clients and yet the capability to handle larger projects. VEI strives to provide professional services, in a timely manner, to each of our clients.
Vernon L. Roelfs, PE, LS, Senior Civil Engineer
Vern has more than 40 years of experience with special training in sanitary engineering. He holds a master's degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University. Vern oversees all of the firm's projects. He is a 39-year Alaskan resident, an avid fisherman and a private pilot.

Robert O. Eder, PE, LS, Senior Civil Engineer
Bob has a strong background in project development, particularly roadway design. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and is a civil engineer in Alaska. Bob has lived and worked in Alaska since 1962 and has extensive design and management experience. In addition to his work for VEI, Bob enjoys hunting and fishing, and is an avid golfer.
Scott T. Roelfs, PE, President / Civil Engineer / Project Manager
Scott holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and has performed a variety of civil engineering tasks over the past 20 years. His career began in Bakersfield, California, where he served as a design engineer working on all aspects of residential and commercial land development projects. In 2007, Scott returned to Alaska and joined VEI. Scott is a licensed Civil and Environment Engineer in Alaska. He is a life-long Alaskan who enjoys all that this state has to offer.

Eric V. Roelfs, PE, Vice President / Civil Engineer
Eric earned his Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and has 13 years of experience. Eric is a lifelong Alaskan who enjoys doing field work. He thoroughly appreciates the outdoor activities that Alaska has to offer and he is a pilot and an accomplished soccer and broomball player. ericr@veiconsultants.com
Ingrid Roelfs, Technical Writer / Permitting Coordinator
Ingrid holds a Bachelor of Science from St. Martin’s University and has over 35 years of technical experience in support of civil engineering projects. She provides technical writing, permitting and environmental document preparation to assist the engineering staff at VEI. She spends her free time hiking, reading or volunteering at church.
