VEI has been involved in projects from the initial concept through final construction.

We provide site evaluation and engineering.  Our work has often involved identifying foundation soils, topography, access, drainage solutions and local permitting requirements.

FEATURED PROJECTS

Chuck Albrect Softball Complex - VEI assisted with site selection and provided site engineering for this $2-million softball complex located in Anchorage near Tudor and Elmore.  Design included layout of 4 softball fields, a 265-space paved parking lot, drainage, storm water treatment, and field irrigation system.  Most of the site was located in Class “B” wetlands and VEI handled the permitting.  The site was underlain by peat, which was subcut and removed in parking areas. Ballfield areas were overlaid with gravel and surcharged through the winter season to eliminate future settlement.  The ballfield facilities displaced dog mushing trails and we worked with the Alaska Sled Dog Racing Association to realign and develop new trails.  After bidding, VEI provided construction administration and inspection.  Parking lot landscaping was provided as part of VEI’s contract, but fencing, ballfield landscaping and irrigation system layout were done by user groups with volunteer help from VEI.
